Thunderstorm over Navacerrada

Evening hillwalk up to the Bola del Mundo radio-television transmitter. The antennas are protected from heavy ice formation my metal cladding, in the form of rockets. God smiled on me this evening, there was thunder and lightning all the way up and down the mountain, but not a drop of rain fell until we got back to the car park! I'm a bit unconvinced about the film. The clouds were more spectacular in real life, here, the colours are a bit subdued. Can someone suggest a better film for crisper results? I'm a black and white photographer, I'm still learning to make good use of colour.

Sometimes i use the older Minolta MC Rokkor-Pf 50mmf2 and the colours with Kodak Gold are a bit stronger than with MD Rokkor 50mm f1.7.

@drummond Thanks for the tip. I'll bear it in mind. I didn't think that the lens would be a factor.
